F1 fans have blasted Lando Norris after the McLaren driver was involved in a tense exchange with Lewis Hamilton following Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix.
Oscar Piastri won the event, with the Australian finishing ahead of both Norris and Hamilton as he won the first race of his career.
After the event, however, Norris was clearly unhappy.
Hamilton was seemingly congratulating his fellow Briton on finishing second, with the Stevenage-born racer saying: “Oooh, you guys are fast.”
🚨🏁 Post-Race:
Lewis – “you guys are fast”
Norris – “you had a fast car 7 years ago…”
Lewis – “7 years ago? long time ago! Were you here seven years ago? I wasn’t complaining but complementing your car”

But Norris appeared to interpret Hamilton’s comments as a dig. The 24-year-old replied: “Yeah, well you had a fast car seven years ago.”
Hamilton said: “Seven years ago? That’s a long time. Were you even here seven years ago?”
Norris added: “Well, you had it. You had a quick car. You made the most of it. Now it’s us.”
Hamilton, clearly stunned by the tone of his rival, clarified that he ‘wasn’t complaining’ and that he was ‘complimenting’ Norris and his performance.

Another said: “What he so rude for? Can’t even take a compliment.”
A fifth opined: “Okay. I officially don’t like Lando or McLaren for that matter. Throwing the hat. Being disrespectful to the GOAT. Yeah. Nah. I’m good.”
A sixth stated: “His own team screwed him and now he takes it out on Lewis… Classic lol.”
And a seventh said: “Oh @LandoNorris… 17 years he’s been in those rooms!! And never disrespected anyone.”

Hamilton, meanwhile, is currently back in form.
He finished third in Hungary, just a week after securing victory at Silverstone at the British Grand Prix.
And Hamilton was really happy with the outcome of the race on Sunday, with the 39-year-old saying: “Big thanks to this amazing crowd this weekend and a huge congratulations to McLaren on the one-two – that’s my old original family, so really happy to see all the boys, the whole team back up front.
“For us today, the team has done a great job to continue on with pushing this car.

“Ultimately we didn’t have the pace of the McLarens or of the Red Bulls, but we just were able to hold on at the beginning of the race.
“It was very, very tough to hold on, make those tyres last, and obviously the close battle we had at the end was a bit hair-raising but that’s motor racing.
“I’m really happy and grateful for the points. Big thanks to the team.”
