Dania Zaheer, a young woman from Pakistan, recently became the victim of a tragic hit-and-run accident in Houston, Texas. Dania suffered multiple serious injuries, including a broken pelvis, femur, hip, arm, and skull fractures. She also sustained a broken eye socket and has fluid in her lungs, which is affecting her ability to breathe. In her words, “I have a broken pelvis, broken arm, broken femur, broken hip, skull fractures, a broken eye socket, and fluid in my lungs, which makes it hard to breathe.”
Despite these severe injuries, Dania remains hopeful. She thought she would have to face this challenging recovery alone, having left her family in Pakistan, but local organizations in Houston have stepped in to offer their support. Additionally, the Pakistani community is rallying around her.
Efforts to Bring Her Family to the U.S.
Ali Shekhani, a community member, visited Dania in the hospital and shared an update on her condition. In his post, he mentioned that Dania is in good spirits and praised her courage, saying she is “a fighter and a brave girl.” Shekhani has also started efforts to bring Dania’s family to the U.S. to be by her side during her recovery. No Leads Yet on the Driver
As of now, the Houston Police Department has not made any significant progress in identifying the driver responsible for the hit-and-run. While a witness was present at the scene, they were unable to provide a description of the vehicle or the suspect. Detectives are continuing their search for video evidence, but so far, no footage has surfaced.
