Uzair Baloch Released from Rahman Dacoit Case Due to Insufficient Evidence

In a recent decision by the Additional District and Sessions Court/Judicial Complex, Lyari gang leader Uzair Baloch and his associate Ghaffar, also known as Mama, were acquitted in the Rahman Dacoit police encounter case due to insufficient evidence. The court found that the prosecution’s case lacked solid proof against Baloch, as highlighted by his lawyer who pointed out discrepancies in the witness statements.

The case initially registered in 2009 at the Steel Town police station, stemmed from a dramatic gunfight between the police and the accused. The encounter resulted in the deaths of Rahman Dacoit and several other individuals, while Uzair Baloch and his co-accused managed to escape. Baloch was later apprehended in January 2021. The police operation led to the deaths of Abdul Rahman alias Rahman Dacoit, Nazir Ahmed, Aurangzeb, and Aqeel.

This recent court ruling highlights ongoing challenges in securing convictions in high-profile criminal cases, especially when evidence is contested or deemed inadequate.
