Team GB continued their strong start to the Paris Olympics with more medals claimed on Day Seven as they climbed up the table.

The Olympics are nearing the halfway stage with athletics getting up and running at the Stade de France.

British stars Dina Asher-Smith, Keely Hodgkinson and Zharnel Hughes are among the many medal hopefuls for Great Britain on track in the coming days.

And mood in the Team GB camp will undoubtedly be sky high after another impressive day out on the water.

Rowers Imogen Grant and Emily Craig got Great Britain up and running on Day Seven with gold in the women’s double sculls race.

It proved to be especially sweet after the British pair suffered heartache in Tokyo when they finished fourth and outside the medals.

Bryony Page then secured Britain’s first gymnastics medal of the Paris Olympics with gold in the women’s trampoline.

The 33-year-old was the penultimate gymnast to compete and she dropped to her knees in joy when she was given a score of 56.480 to take the gold medal position.

China’s Hu Yicheng was the only one who could have stopped Page, but she lost her balance in her routine and the British star took gold.

Speaking afterwards, Page confirmed that she would be targeting a place at the next Olympics in Los Angeles, when she will be 37 years old.

“When I was on the top of the scoreboard, I thought I’d won, but I forgot there was another person to go!” Page said.

“Look, I’ve still got more that I want to do. My Olympic career feels complete but I still have the idea of going to the LA Games (in 2028).

“I just love this sport and if I’m happy and healthy, then you might see me around for a few more cycles.”

A third gold for Great Britain was secured by showjumping trio Ben Maher, Harry Charles and Scott Brash in the jumping team final.

Charles delivered a perfect final round as Team GB managed to hold off the United States and France.

There was more success elsewhere as Ben Proud and Duncan Scott took silver medals in the men’s 50m freestyle and 200m individual medley respectively.

Scott’s silver in the individual medley meant he became the most decorated Scottish Olympian of all time.

Rowers Ollie Wynne-Griffith and Tom George also picked up silver in the men’s pair earlier in the day while Jack Laugher picked up bronze alongside Anthony Harding in the men’s 3m synchronised diving.

Beth Shriever was a hot favourite to win a medal in the women’s BMXrace but she suffered a disastrous start to the race and was unable to recover.

Team GB ended the day fifth in the medals table courtesy of the three golds they picked with 27 total medals at the Olympics.
