Metro Bus Service Suspended Today

In response to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) call for a rally in the capital, authorities have implemented a strict traffic plan, sealing several key roads and suspending the Metro Bus Service. This has caused significant disruptions, with long lines of vehicles and commuters facing considerable delays.

Key Roads Sealed

The police have completely sealed Faizabad, a major intersection connecting Rawalpindi and Islamabad, using containers to block all entry and exit points. In addition, Double Road and 26 Number Chowrangi have been closed off, adding to the traffic congestion in the area.

Alternative Routes and Traffic Management

With the closure of major roads, the district administration has provided alternative routes for commuters. However, heavy police presence on these alternative paths has further slowed down traffic flow. The entry point at Rawat T-Chowk, which connects Islamabad and Rawalpindi, has also been blocked, adding to the traffic woes.

Metro Bus Service Suspended

The Metro Bus Service between Rawalpindi and Islamabad has been suspended due to the ongoing situation. Commuters who rely on this service for daily travel are advised to seek alternative means of transportation during this period.

Section 144 Imposed in Rawalpindi

To maintain law and order, the district administration has imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi until August 24, 2024. This move bans all gatherings, processions, rallies, and protests in the city. The administration has also revoked the NOC previously issued to PTI for their rally in Islamabad, further tightening the security measures.
