Hamas Leader to be Buried Today After Friday Prayers in Doha

Former Palestinian Prime Minister and Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh’s funeral prayer took place at Tehran University, attracting millions, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Streets of Tehran were filled with people holding banners and pictures of Haniyeh and Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani, displaying slogans like “It is our duty to avenge our guest.”

Haniyeh’s body was flown to Doha, Qatar, where he will be buried after Friday prayers at Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque, Doha’s largest mosque. Hamas has named Friday a Day of Rage, with leaders from the Arab and Islamic world attending the funeral. They urged Muslims globally to march from mosques after prayers. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan also declared a day of mourning in Turkey for Haniyeh.

Hezbollah launched rockets at northern Israel, reacting to an attack on southern Lebanon, which killed their senior commander. The United States has deployed 12 warships to the Middle East amid the escalating situation, according to an American official.

Iran Attack on Israel

Iran and allied groups are preparing for coordinated attacks on Israel, though analysts suggest these will avoid full-scale war. A meeting between Iran and its allies discussed retaliation for Haniyeh and Hezbollah’s commander Fouad Shukri, considering simultaneous or surprise responses.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah stated that Israel crossed red lines, making retaliation inevitable. Panic spread in Israel following Iran and its allies’ actions, with heightened army and security alerts.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu declared that Israel is ready for any retaliatory attacks or further aggression.
