Barnabas Vargas has shared his first update on social media since sustaining multiple broken bones in his face in Hungary’s dramatic win over Scotland at Euro 2024.
The 29-year-old was left in a worrying state after inadvertently crashing into Angus Gunn as they both battled to win the ball.
There was immediate concern for Varga’s welfare with his Hungary team-mates clearly distressed.
He was later taken to hospital where it was confirmed he was in a stable condition and would undergo surgery.

Varga now appears to be out of surgery after his wife Laura Skrapits posted a photo of her holding the international star’s hand in a touching photo.
“Thank you for your kind, supportive messages,” Skrapits wrote.
“Barni is over the surgery. A little rest is waiting for him but he’ll be fine!”
Varga shared the post to his own Instagram story, updating fans on his condition.
