KP Billion Tree Tsunami Plus: Ambitious Reforestation Project

In a significant move towards environmental conservation, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has proposed the launch of the “Billion Tree Tsunami Plus” project, aiming to plant over one billion trees across the province within five years.

This initiative follows the successful implementation of the Billion Tree Tsunami and 10 Billion Tree Tsunami projects, demonstrating the province’s commitment to combating climate change and promoting eco-tourism.

Key Objectives:

  • Plant over one billion trees in five years
  • Expand eco-tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in newly merged districts
  • Mitigate climate change challenges in the region
  • Restore and expand forest areas across the province

The project will involve government and private nurseries to ensure a comprehensive tree planting and forest restoration effort. Forest Divisions have been instructed to prioritize plantation activities in government nurseries.

The previous 10 Billion Tree Project was accomplished at a cost of 19 billion rupees, underscoring the scale and significance of these environmental conservation efforts.
