Pakistan Renames Islamabad Eleventh Avenue as "Iran Avenue" in Gesture of Friendship

In a symbol of strengthening ties between Pakistan and Iran, the federal government has renamed Islamabad’s Eleventh Avenue as “Iran Avenue”. This development comes ahead of Iranian President Seyyed Ibrahim Raisi’s three-day official visit to Pakistan from April 22-24.

The newly renamed highway, constructed from Sector D-12 to E-11 North-East corner, is a significant infrastructure project in the capital city. The renaming decision was approved by the federal cabinet, reflecting the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.

President Raisi’s visit marks the first by a head of state to Pakistan since the new government was formed. During his visit, he will meet with top Pakistani officials, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and other dignitaries.

The two nations are expected to discuss various areas of cooperation, including trade, connectivity, energy, agriculture, and people-to-people contacts. Regional and global developments, as well as joint efforts to combat terrorism, will also be on the agenda.

This gesture of renaming the highway demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment to fostering a strong and friendly relationship with Iran, anchored in their shared history, culture, and religion.
