Islamabad Fake Driving License Website: A Fact Check

Recent reports reveal a fraudulent website masquerading as Islamabad Traffic Police has been deceiving individuals into providing personal information for fake driving licenses. This scam was uncovered following a social media post that alerted users to the deceptive site.

Fraudulent Website Exposed

On August 7, 2024, a user shared a screenshot on the social media platform X of a website claiming to be affiliated with Islamabad Traffic Police. The website, accessible at https://dlims-itp.com/, falsely solicited ID card numbers from users under the guise of verifying driving licenses.

Islamabad Police’s Response

Two officials from Islamabad Police have confirmed the website’s fraudulent nature. Taqi Jwad, a Public Relations Officer, assured that the site is not linked to Islamabad Police. “We are taking immediate action against this fake site,” Jwad stated. “Our Cyber Crime Wing is working diligently to shut it down.”

Sub-Inspector Abdul Rashid from the IT Department added that the IP address of the fake site has been traced, and a formal complaint has been filed with the Cyber Crime Department.
