Pakistan’s Last Hope for a Medal

Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s top contender for a medal, is gearing up for the javelin throw qualification round at the Paris Olympics today. The qualification round set to start at 2:50 PM Pakistan Standard Time (PST), with Arshad Nadeem scheduled to make his throw fifth. Group B also features other notable throwers such as World No. 5 Edis Matusevicius, World No. 6 Anderson Peters, and Germany’s Max Dehning, who has achieved a throw over 90 meters this year.

To advance to the final round, athletes must achieve a minimum throw of 84 meters. If fewer than 12 athletes meet this mark, those with the best throws will still have a chance to qualify. Arshad Nadeem’s performance in this qualification round is vital, as he is Pakistan’s last hope for a medal in these Olympics.

Nadeem’s past achievements highlight his potential. He secured a silver medal at the World Championship last year and won gold at the Commonwealth Games 2022 with a remarkable throw of 90.18 meters, becoming the first Pakistani to win gold in the event since 1962.
